3 Keys to Receiving God’s Supernatural Healing Power

Welcome beautiful soul! I’m so sorry for the pain and trauma you’ve experienced in your life that brought you here, but so happy you’re taking the steps to get healed. Darkness, trials, and trauma are parts of life we can’t escape, but YOU are in control of how you navigate them, and more importantly, who you become on the other side of them.

The Bible depicts countless displays of God’s supernatural ability to heal. From physical afflictions to emotional and spiritual wounds, the heart of God is to heal and restore His children. But how do we receive that power? What do we do when prayer alone doesn’t seem to work?

I’ve been there … desperate for healing but confused by God’s apparent lack of action. In search of deeper answers, but unsatisfied by the church’s responses. Certain I was missing something, but unsure of where to turn.

My need for emotional healing from childhood and adult trauma, along with my quest for truth, took me on a spirit-led healing and transformation journey where I discovered …

3 Keys to Receiving God’s Supernatural Healing Power

#1 FAITH

The first key to receiving God’s supernatural healing power is faith. God’s healing power is our gift, given freely through grace by faith in Jesus. The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus is the key that has unlocked God’s healing power for all who put their faith in Him—check out this post, How to Unlock God’s Supernatural Healing Power, to read more about this amazing gift!

Faith is the most powerful key to receiving God’s supernatural healing power. Twice in the Gospel of Mark Jesus tells people it was their faith that healed them—and of course, it was Him who they’d put their faith in!

Mark 5:25-34 tells the story of a woman who’d been bleeding for twelve years. She was desperate for healing and had exhausted all her options in the physical realm. As Jesus was on His way to heal the dying daughter of a synagogue official, this woman pushed through a crowd, believing she’d be healed if she could touch the hem of his garments—and that’s exactly what happened! She immediately healed when she touched his clothes. After feeling the power leave Him, Jesus tells her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be healed of your affliction.”

Mark 10:46-52 tells the story of a blind man named Bartimaeus who heard news that Jesus was moving through a large crowd, and began to cry out to Him for mercy, believing that if he could reach Jesus he’d be healed—and that’s exactly what happened! Jesus responded to his cries and called him over to Himself. In verse 52 of Mark 10 He tells Bartimaeus, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” The Bible says the man immediately regained his sight and began following Jesus.

The supernatural power of God healed them, but they received the healing through their faith in Jesus. But what does faith look like?

Hebrews 11:1 & 6 perfectly define it: “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”

Jesus addresses faith in Mark 11:22-24 by saying, “Have faith in God. Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it shall be granted him. Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they shall be granted to you.”

Faith is complete trust in God. It transcends mere head knowledge. It’s belief walked out in everyday choices. It’s the assurance of things hoped for—the certainty that God will make good on His promises. It’s the conviction of things not seen—the confidence that God will come through despite what the current circumstances might suggest. True faith trusts in God’s ability and heart to heal, even before we see the evidence or manifestation of healing!

Faith doesn’t come naturally, it’s a spiritual discipline. In terms of healing, it’s difficult not to get caught up in what we see on the surface, in the symptoms or the diagnosis, and yet, that’s exactly what faith requires us to do. It’s a call to trust in God—His power, His promises, and His past performances!

The next key to receiving God’s supernatural healing power is central to deepening faith ...

#2 KNOWLEDGE

The 2nd key to receiving God’s supernatural healing power is knowledge. Surely, you’ve heard the saying, “Knowledge is power.” The Bible has another take in Hosea 4:6, saying, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Knowledge of who God is, what He’s done, and what He promises to do is the power move to deepening your faith, which makes it a crucial key in receiving God’s supernatural healing power.

Second Peter 3:17-18 says, “Be on your guard lest, being carried away by the error of unprincipled men, you fall from your own steadfastness, but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Paul says in Colossians 2:6-8, “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith.” Then he warns, “See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.”

This brings to mind the saying, “Consider the source.” According to the word of God, we must be careful to not be deceived—to believe lies. Not all sources tell the truth, making knowledge capable of both power and destruction. Knowledge that is based on truth is powerful, whereas knowledge based on lies is destructive.

Deciphering truth from lies requires us to choose the right source. The Bible makes it clear that we have a spiritual enemy who is the father of lies (John 8:44). Revelation 12:9 refers to him as “The serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world.” Not some of us, but the entire world!

First Peter 5:8-9 instructs, “Be of sober spirit, be on alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in your faith.” Ephesians 6:10-17 details the armor of God that includes, “the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one.”

Are you seeing the picture here? You have a spiritual enemy who is the father, or the source of, all lies! He does not, of course, throw literal darts at you, this is a physical picture to represent his spiritual weapon of deception. Your spiritual weapon of defense is your shield of faith, and the foundation of your faith is the grace and knowledge of your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Jesus says in John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.” John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God,” and continues in verse 14, “The Word became flesh, and dwelt amount us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

The Word of God is truth, and Jesus is the Word of God in the flesh! Seeking to know God, His power, His promises, and His past performances, through His Word is the truth-based knowledge we need to deepen our faith and receive His supernatural healing power!

What we do with this knowledge is the last key to receiving God’s supernatural healing power ...

#3 ACTION

The 3rd key to receiving God’s supernatural healing power is action. Knowledge and understanding of Jesus builds and deepens our faith in Him, but what’s the point of knowledge if we don’t act it out in our daily lives? The Bible addresses this in James 2:14-26, “You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. But are you willing to recognize you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless?” The passage explains faith is perfected by works, or the acting upon of your faith, and continues, “For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.”

Action is the evidence of our faith. First John 5:1-4 says, “Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ (Messiah) is born of God; and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe (do) His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”

The purpose of the Word of God, of the knowledge of truth, is to put it into action—to live it out! Our daily lives are the evidence of what we truly believe. Faith parallels love in that, it isn’t just a feeling—it requires action. You can say you love someone with your mouth, yet never display love through your actions. The same goes for God. You can say you love Him, but never show it by doing what He says we’ll do if we love Him—keep His commandments.

The Word of God is not a set of strict rules, it’s an instruction guide to living your best life. Everything that God commands is designed to keep you safe and healthy. It’s all for your good. When you submit to the will of God and walk out your faith and knowledge of Him through obedience to His commands, you open the final door to receiving His supernatural healing power. Acting out your faith is as simple and challenging as making choices based on your knowledge of Jesus—think WWJD (What would Jesus do?).

In all things, Jesus would seek and trust the Father. He wouldn’t look to the present moment—to present challenges, circumstances, pain, or suffering. In all things Jesus would, and did, persevere in faith. He was your living example of how to receive the supernatural healing power of God—the same power that rose Jesus from the dead, the same power that can live in you through faith in Jesus (Romans 8:11, Ephesians 1:18-23).

I hope these three keys to receiving God’s supernatural healing power have motivated and inspired you to seek knowledge and truth through the Word of God to deepen and live out your faith in Jesus! Even though God can heal instantly, quite often, He desires to collaborate with you on a healing and transformation journey that gives you time to cultivate intimacy and trust with Him, a journey where He heals you from your deepest afflictions and transforms you into the beautiful being He created you to be.
